I've always wanted to tackle that, so I heartily endorse the effort.

One thing I should note: one goal I have for this is to support the
JSON schema language defined here:
http://json-schema.org/

I think having an ecosystem of compatible implementations would be the
healthiest thing to have, not all tangled up in a single
implementation.  While I'm pretty happy with some aspects of my own
code, there's much to improve on, and I'd just as soon see people make
lots of implementations of the idea.

That you'll have to thank cyrilrbt for (Cyril Robert, I believe).  He
contributed that work back in 2006.
